As we’ve discussed before, the Hangry dashboard allows you to send notifications directly to your users; in other words, send them a push message. You are able to send notifications to specific mobile ordering user groups, multiple users, and even global notifications to all your users at once. Today, we are going to be discussing how you can send notifications to a specific mobile ordering user groups.
What is a User Segment?
A segment is a combination of conditions. Segments allow you to use complex rules to create precise groups for analysis. For example: A segment containing all of the users that: (1) have ordered a chicken sandwich from Pita Pit AND (2) have been online in the last week.
What is a Segment Notification?
Once you have created the segments, the dashboard actually gives you the ability to communicate with these specific user groups. This allows for targeted and informed marketing initiatives. For example, you can send a notification to a segment labelled ‘Happy Users.’ This could include users who have rated the app 5 stars, and been online in the last day.
Targeted Marketing
Push notifications are a great way to stay top-of-mind, and bring students back to your app. An example of effective push campaigns for re-engagement would include sending a message during peak eating times. Another is sending a push that includes some kind of reward or contest. If you have loyalty program in place, you could send a message to students encouraging them to order a ‘large Coke’ at lunch to earn ‘double the points’. In addition, you can also inform them of fun things happening on campus. An example could include, ‘Psst. Free Pizza at the Student Centre, right now!’ This personalization is beneficial to the student, and once again brings them back to your app.
Add in User Segments
With User Segments, we are allowing you to take personalized marketing one step further. It really hones in on the needs and wants of your mobile users. By narrowing down your users to specific groups, you can create personalized messages that suit them best. Let’s flip the switch on the example we used above. Let’s say you’ve created a User Segment called ‘Unhappy Users’ and this includes users who last ordered a month ago, and have rated the app below 3 stars. From here, you are able to communicate directly with this group of users to bring them back to enjoying your mobile app. This might include a message that states, ‘We’re sorry you’ve been unhappy with your experience, your next order is on us!’ or ‘We’ve missed you. If you’re willing to give us another try, we’d like to offer you 20% off your next order.’ With this personalized marketing, you can really show your users you care and accommodate their mobile app needs.
