With social distancing still top of mind going into the new school year, we’ve launched many customizable features to help campuses cope. Every campus has unique needs, and we’re here to help retail and residential dining with their social distancing initiatives. One major development has been our capacity management / virtual queue module. Read more on that here.
Another key development has been our delivery module. Social distancing guidelines may vary per state and per campus, so we know there are unique cases all around. When it comes to delivery, one element of feedback from clients has been spreading traffic across campus. Our delivery module can help!
On campus, delivery is done based on delivery spots as opposed to addresses. Each campus sets their delivery spots up in the backend dashboard, which can then be attached to locations of their choice. When it comes to hours of operations and items offered, campuses have the option to have them unified or separate. Perhaps delivery is only offered in the evening time, and it has a limited menu. Some locations may offer only pickup, while others only offer delivery, and some may have both. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
Social Distancing via Delivery in Action
As you see in the left image, the home screen of the app will specify which locations are offering delivery or pickup, as well as the hours for each. Once the user picks a location, then they can choose between pickup or delivery in the top right corner.
On the checkout screen, the customer selects their delivery location. This is based on the locations that you’ve set up in the dashboard, and linked to this particular restaurant as available delivery spots. These can be any location across campus.
Once their order is placed, the customer is notified through every step of the preparation process. They can see when their order is being prepared, when it’s getting boxed up, when it’s out for delivery, and when it’s been delivered. You’re able to send them push notification throughout the process. Thus, customers come to the delivery spot on time and their food is fresh.
After the customer has been notified of the delivery, then they can pick up their order. You may choose to add additional instructions regarding drop off spots, depending on your support staff. Some drop off spots may be self managed. In other cases you might opt to have the delivery person wait, and hand out each order individually. As with our entire system, the key is flexibility. Above all we’re here to complement your operational flow. Therefore, the platform can be customized based on your specific needs.
