One of our favourite assets to the Loyalty Program is that it can drive student behaviour. By placing points on essentially any action within the app, you can control how the student uses the app and the outcome of that usage. With the ability to drive behaviour, you can use the Loyalty Program to encourage trends on campus. Here are some trends we’ve seen encouraged through the loyalty and rewards program:
Healthy Eating on campus
Through Hangry’s Loyalty and Rewards feature, dining services is able to rewards students every time they make healthier meal choices—and the options are endless. Every time a student makes a healthy meal choice, they are rewarded points which can then be redeemed in your mobile app rewards store. For example, if a student opts for a side salad instead of fries, you can award them double the points. You can also reward the student points every time they check the nutritional facts of their meal, or use the dietary filtering feature. Attending Class
Through the Loyalty Program, you can prompt students to scan a barcode every time they enter a classroom on their schedule. Once a student has ‘checked in’ to their class, you can award them points for attending class. This can also be used to encourage students to attend seminars, workshops, and any other campus events.
Eco-friendly Trends
Eco-friendly trends have grown exponentially in popularity in recent years, and there is no end in sight. Therefore, getting on board to save the environment is always a good way to go! With the hangry app, you can reward students for carpooling to school or taking the bus. In addition, you can create blocks of time where students are rewarded for choosing food options that have the least amount of waste.
Social Media
Use what matters most to your audience. If your audience is students, like Hangry’s, then your answer is Social Media. Allow your Loyalty Program to drive social media traffic, and allow your social channels to enhance your Loyalty Program — A hybrid mobile app tool with features that can stand alone, but only improve when the other is added. Ying and Yang. A great example of using Hangry to get involved through social media is from our own experience! Through our campus dining and auxiliary services app, we send push notifications to our students encouraging them to share photos of their meals or dining experiences on social media. Once they’ve posted, we can reward them by giving them points to redeem in the rewards store. By giving students an incentive to post, you instantly increase relevant social media traffic.
The whole point of social media is to be seen, or to have your content shared. So, if your platform includes social channels, you can share the content posted by your users to also increase their social presence. This can be done by ‘Weekly Post Favourites’ on your Instagram story, or ‘Fan photos of the Day’. Getting involved in popular culture trends is also a great way to utilize the platform. Some examples include: ‘Roll Up the Rim to Win’, Pumpkin Spice Latte Season, Movember, and many more. To learn more about loyalty and social media click here.
Eating On Campus
To keep students eating on campus, a loyalty program is your strongest weapon. Even if campus dining services is the most convenient way to order food, it doesn’t always keep students from craving food elsewhere (i.e. a coffee on the way to school in the morning, or dinner from their favourite off-campus spot after school). A Loyalty and Rewards programs is the catalyst to students always choosing to eat on campus. Loyalty programs offer rewards to students for choosing your dining locations. If students are given the chance to earn points or prizes every time they order, they are more inclined to choose on-campus dining. Loyalty programs are also a great way to up-sell products, and sell more featured items if students are going to be rewarded for it. Auxiliary and dining services can also benefit a great deal from a loyalty program; Campus merchandise or experiences can be offered as prizes, so you’re constantly marketing the on-campus experience.
