Heading off to college covers a lot of milestones—one of the most significant changes is living on your own for the first time. For some students, this means being fully responsible for managing your own food allergies. Although campuses are now taking more precautions when it comes to allergies and dietary concerns, it still isn’t as highly monitored as elementary or high schools.
The Hangry Campus Branded app offers a feature specifically targeted for students with allergies and dietary concerns.
How does this work?
Well, the process is quite simple. With the Hangry Campus Branded app, you are able to give students access to all the dining service menus on their mobile device. Once the students have accessed your menu, they are then able to filter options based on their allergies or dietary concerns. For example, if a student is allergic to dairy, they are able to filter out any items on the menu that does or may include dairy. From here, they are able to make informed decisions on meal choices.
The Dietary Filtering feature offered with Hangry also includes Nutritional Information. Not only can students monitor their allergies, they are also able to track caloric information and filter based on food preferences. This feature is also available through Hangry Mobile Ordering. If your campus chooses to add the Mobile Ordering feature to your Campus Branded App, all Dietary Filtering and Nutritional Information will be included in the ordering process. What we mean by this, is that when a student goes to order from one of your campus locations they will be able to do the following:
1.Track their calorie intake (whether through mobile ordering, or just browsing through your menus)
2. Filter out menu items they are allergic to
3. Filter menus to show dietary preferences (ex. Vegan, Gluten-Free, Hallal, etc)

Why is this Important?
Every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room. In addition, about 40 percent of students with food allergies have experienced a severe allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis. Although college students are responsible for their own allergies, mistakes happen every day. With Hangry’s Dietary Filtering and Nutritional Information features, students are able to always know what they’re eating, and make informed decisions about their eating habits.
