During the menu building process, you will need to set a prep time for each item. This is so the users know how much time they have before they can pick up their order, and so the kitchen knows how much time they have to make an order. However, there are some items that don’t require any time at all. Some examples would include: a can of coke, a bag of chips, a chocolate bar, or a cookie. You will need to ensure that these items are set to pre-made so that no unnecessary additional time is added to an order status.
UPDATE PRE-MADE ITEM STATUS:
- Click Operations on the left toolbar.
- Click Item Prep Times at the top of the screen.
- Select your desired Restaurant Location.
- Select your desired Menu Item.
- Move to the section to the right, and under Update Pre-made Status switch the toggle to Pre-Made Item.
How does this affect the algorithm?: If an item is set to pre-made, then that item will be ignored in the Preparation Percentages calculation. This is important, because if you forget to assign an item to Pre-made then the prep time of that item will be added to the algorithm, throwing off the time it takes to make that order.
