User segment capabilities are some of our favourite dashboard features! Our mobile ordering platform offers lots of flexibility to suit customers. Segmentation is one of our many tools to help meet unique campus commerce needs.
What Are User Segments?
A segment is a combination of conditions and/or user lists. Segments allow you to use complex rules to create precise groups for analysis, as well as for various restrictions within the app. First, conditions need to be created. These can be customized, or simply use our pre-populated ones. Conditions can currently be based on static user properties or details within past orders.
For example: all users that have been online in the last week; all users that have ordered a chicken sandwich from Pita Grill.
These conditions can then be combined to create a more complex segment. For instance: all users that have been online in the last week AND ordered a chicken sandwich from Pita Grill. To learn more about building segments, check out this post.
Finally, you can create manual lists, or use our list uploader, to create a group of users. To learn more, watch our list builder video below.
User Segment Utilization
Comparing segments is going to allow you to take different groups of user information and place them side by side to get an informed look at their engagement. With this feature you can detect patterns, make informed decisions, and easily find areas of improvement.
Segments, conditions, and lists can also be used to send push notifications and inbox messages to those specific users. This also allows for great marketing opportunities through push messaging. You are able to tailor your messages to certain groups as opposed to sending one mass message.
More targeted user marketing opportunities can be configured via promos & campaigns, rewards, and upselling rules. Additionally, user segments can be applied to locations, tenders, and menu sections. Thus, this would display certain locations, tenders, and menu sections to specified users.
As you can see, user segments are incorporated throughout our platform. As a result, they are used extensively to create targeted marketing, and personalized experiences to end users.
