Preparation percentages represent how much additional time to add as the number of items in a cart grows. For example, users are not always going to order just one item. Sometimes they are going to order a ‘ham & swiss’ for themselves, and a ‘turkey club’ for a friend. Both orders have a prep time of 10 minutes, however, because they are being made together it’s not going to take the full 10 minutes for both. That is where the algorithm comes in; prep percentages account for each item in the cart to determine how long the order will take to complete.

UPDATE BUSY THRESHOLD:
- Click Operations on the left toolbar.
- Click Order Flow at the top of the screen.
- Select your desired Restaurant Location.
- In the middle, head to Update Prep Percentages and enter % amount you’d like for each additional item.
For example: Assume Second Item % is 50. If Item1 has a prep time of 10 minutes, and Item2 has a prep time of 8 minutes, then we will multiply the “Assume Second Item %” by Item2’s prep time (i.e. 8 * 50% = 4 minutes). The total prep time estimate would be 14 minutes (10 from Item1 and 4 from Item2).
Note: If an item is set to “Pre-Made” in the “Item Prep Times” tab, then that item will be ignored in this calculation (an example of this would be a can of Coca-Cola because it takes no prep time to make)
